Did you know that llamas originally came from South America to us in the Alps? “Llamas come from the Andes in South America and not – as many people assume – from the Himalayas in Asia. This is where the Dalai Lama, the highest priest of Tibetan Buddhism, originally comes from. He may sound like a Lama, but he isn’t,” explain Andrea and Michael Eichhorn, who appreciate the enormous variety of good qualities of the llamas and have fallen in love with them completely. “Lamas are faithful and useful companions of people who have kept, bred and trained them for thousands of years. The animals are particularly friendly, peaceful, social and sensitive – just to name a few of their special characteristics.” The two live very close to the children’s hotel Ramsi and have created a real paradies for llamas and alpacas – their “Lamaland” – with their herd. They offer various trekking tours and Andrea is a kindergarten teacher herself, so the couple is specialized in lama trekking for families with children.
“Our llamas are especially fond of children and are trained to work with children,” explains Michael, who has already done many guided hikes with his llamas in small groups. Apart from the fascination for the animals, the relaxing effect on people is also very special. Fully concentrated on the nature of the animals, llama trekking becomes a unique experience for children. The animal companions give them a motivation boost and they will certainly never get bored during the hike. “We offer a variety of trekking tours with llamas for every fitness level and age. Short trial tours or extensive llama trekking of several hours, we are sure to have the right experience for you”, says Andrea and Michael. “It is very practical that the llamas are used to carrying your luggage. Provisions and equipment come in the saddlebags.” The Lamas can be guided by children from 10 years or together with their parents.
Let llamas fascinate you. Hike with the animal companions. Experience an unforgettable trekking tour and have fun with your family holiday. Enjoy the nature and the beautiful landscape around the Kinderhotel Ramsi.
Ramsis tip: In Ramsis spring magic package a llama trekking tour is included from 2020 for the whole family. The perfect family holiday week can already be booked online!
