Our Kinderhotel Ramsi is located not far from the town of Hermagor in an enchanting region in southern Austria. It has a lot to offer: Between the Nassfeld mountain region and the Weißensee Lake, there are endless mountain & lake experiences and culinary delights to be enjoyed all year round. And if you feel like it, you can make a quick detour to neighbouring Italy or Slovenia. It’s not far at all!
The Nassfeld is a world-class adventure mountain, and its valley station for the cable cars is only a five-minute drive from our family hotel.
In summer you can hike, bike, climb, do archery and all sorts of other things. Dreamlike landscapes will enchant you in the Weißensee Lake Nature Park. This lake as well as the Pressegger Lake, the largest “bathtub” in Carinthia, invite you to swim and splash in summer!
In winter, on the other hand, the Nassfeld area is a top destination for skiing, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The Weißensee Lake freezes regularly in the cold season and becomes the largest natural ice rink in Europe.

Rafting, canyoning and river tubing on the Gail river: pure adrenaline, action and fun
The Gail is our life-giving water vein, a stunningly beautiful river. Sometimes gently and sometimes wildly it winds its way through our Carinthian Gail Valley and is just waiting to be discovered by you. During family rafting, canyoning or river tubing you can get to know the Gail from its spectacular side, perfectly managed and accompanied by the guides from our region.

Perfectly equipped with neoprene, life jacket and helmet, you will ride on the crystal clear, foaming waves. Look forward to a soaking wet, exciting holiday adventure for the whole family (with children from 4 years old). The best time is in May and June!
Canyoning in wild gorges
Where the water has paved its way for millennia, it now calls out to you; make way! Slide over polished rocks into the cool water, climb through a world of canyons, feel the pitter-patter of water on your helmet, experience a magnificent natural spectacle up close.
River tubing with fantastic views

Summer bathing fun at the Weissensee lake in the midst of beautiful nature
The Weissensee lake is a natural jewel of very special quality, it is only a 35 minutes’ drive from our Kinderhotel Ramsi and gets up to 25 degrees warm in summer. On top of that, it is drinking water quality, is one of the purest bathing lakes in the Alps and is the centrepiece of the Weissensee Nature Park. It is also affectionately called the ‘playground of nature’ because there is an incredible amount to discover and experience here.
Bathing, diving and jumping from cliffs
You can bathe, swim and splash in a beach resort to your heart’s content, but the lake has much more to offer. Here you can also dive, jump from cliffs, go water skiing, wakeboarding, surfing, sailing or ride in an inflatable canoe. The surrounding nature is breathtakingly beautiful, and perfect for a day trip for the whole family.
Bathing and splashing in the Pressegger lake, Carinthia’s largest bathtub
Our Pressegger lake gets wonderfully warm in summer. It is and remains the largest bathtub in Carinthia and is conveniently only a 20 minutes’ drive from the Kinderhotel Ramsi. Make sure you pack your rubber ducks, bikinis and swim trunks and enjoy the summer from its most splashy side. In the up to 28 degrees warm lake (with drinking water quality) you can be completely in your element.
Our Pressegger lake is also diverse, for example, there is the 1st Carinthian adventure park with many action stations for the little ones. There are family-friendly bathing beaches with boat rentals and many water sports facilities plus plenty of space for sunbathing and relaxing. There are picturesque walks, three metres high billowing reeds and pure nature with every step.

Theme trails between Nassfeld, Pressegger Lake and Weissensee Lake
In our region there are quite a few themed hiking trails for hikers of all ages. There are gentle hiking trails for the whole family with greatviews and playgrounds. Visit, for example, the ‘Reich der Seehexe’ (Realm of the Sea Witch) with a picturesque adventure trail at the Pressegger lake, with an adventure playground and grasses garden. Or walk along the Dolce Vita path on the Nassfeld, where you can cross the border and experience the ‘sweet living on the Nassfeld’. On the Nassfeld there is also the pushchair-friendly Aqua Trail ‘BergWasser’ with adventure stations for playing and marvelling, and many other trails.

Nine themed trails in the Weissensee Lake Nature Park
At the Weissensee lake there is a total of 9 themed hiking trails waiting for you. From the educational Weissensee bee trail over the nature trail and the Rattendorf water adventure trail to the Buchbichl adventure course. By boat across the Weissensee lake
We believe that the Weissensee Lake Nature Park is even more beautiful when experienced by boat. Swing yourself on board, glide over the crystal-clear waters and enjoy the unique natural landscape, such as on a sea cruise with the liner. If you want to occasionally exercise your legs and enjoy nature on foot, simply get off at one of the nine moorings, walk along the unobstructed shore for a few minutes and get back on the boat at the next stop.
An excursion by electric boat
If you prefer to travel on your own, you can simply rent a small electric, pedal or rowing boat. Then you can cruise across the lake as you please, stop at picturesque places and jump into the water in your own refined way. Family fun on the Nassfeld adventure mountain; summer toboggan run, mountain playground, adventure mile and much more
There is a lot going on in the summer on the Nassfeld. First, the mountain railways, which you can use for free with your +CARD holiday, will take you up to the peaks and pastures of our adventure mountain. At the top, you can then choose between a variety of experiences; you can jet down the mountain on the ‘Pendolino’ (Carinthia’s longest summer toboggan run), solve tricky tasks and puzzles on the smuggler’s path in the ‘Reich der Wilden Bande’ (Realm of the Wild Gang), go in search of the Wulfenia magic flower at the mountain playground ‘Almrausch’, or you can climb through the rock labyrinth in the outdoor park Nassfeld and glide from tree to tree with the Flying Fox. A 3D archery park is also available.

Then just hop into our Ramsi-E-Car, the all-electric VW Golf ID.3, which is waiting right outside our front door for your whisper-quiet and emission-free tour through our beautiful region. You can easily rent our Ramsi e-car via the e-car sharing platform FReD (our Ramsi e-car is a class 2 car) – by the hour, half-day or day.
If you want to use our e-car, it’s best to register via the FReD app before you arrive – so that the car is safely waiting for you. If you are arriving by train or plane, you can order the e-car directly to the station or airport and drive to us from there. You can find all the information here >>

Unlimited skiing fun in the world-class Nassfeld ski area: a winter dream for the whole family
The Nassfeld is one of the ten best ski resorts in Austria, a dream come true for young and old skiers. The valley station of the cable car is only a five-minute drive from our Kinderhotel Ramsi, which means that it is just a little hop away to enjoy unlimited skiing pleasure on 110 perfectly groomed kilometres of pistes and plenty of adventure stations. For example, there is a ski movie racing track, a snow park, freeride areas and the Nassfeld cinema for the most beautiful panoramic photo of your family holiday.
In winter, our free ski bus takes you directly to the valley station every hour and you’re off. For your convenience, you can purchase the ski pass for the Nassfeld at our reception. On the Nassfeld, there is also a ski school and ski rental. If you would like to do a course, we will be happy to help you with your reservation. Of course, we will also provide you with advice for your stopovers in the mountain huts and pubs of the Nassfeld!

When the Weissensee lake freezes; ice skating XXXL on Europe’s largest natural ice-skating rink
Believe us, you’ve never seen anything like it! When the Weissensee lake freezes in winter, it becomes the largest natural ice-skating rink in Europe. A huge, glistening ice surface, surrounded by wintry landscapes, that will light up your eyes. It is an incomparable experience gliding across a perfectly polished surface, a winter fairy-tale straight from the pages of a storybook.
It is not uncommon for the lake to freeze, often there is already a fine, transparent skin as early as the end of November. By mid-December, the ice is usually so strong and durable that the ice masters can start nursing it. Up to 25 kilometres of ice-skating rinks for young and not so young skaters, tracks for curlers, places for ice hockey cracks and a 400-metre track for speed skaters are cleaned and groomed. As soon as it is opened to the public, the cheerful hustle and bustle begins.
The closest entrance to the XXXL ice rink on the Weissensee lake is only about a 30 minutes’ drive from the Kinderhotel Ramsi.
Tracks in the snow; cross-country skiing, ski tour and winter hiking paradise Nassfeld and Weissensee lake
Snowy landscapes, glittering ice crystals and bright blue skies; such a winter day with us at the Kinderhotel Ramsi can be rather quaint and are perfect for small tours of our region. Discover the wintry beauties of the Nassfeld, the Carnic Alps and the Gailtal Alps on foot, with snowshoes, touring skis or cross-country skis. For cross-country skiing enthusiasts, the Weissensee region proves to be a small paradise, for here you can cross the frozen surface of the lake, amongst other things.
We offer a wide range of cross-country trails (over 100 well-tracked routes), guided ski tours, snowshoe walks and winter hikes. Just ask at our reception where we will be happy to organise a professional tour guide and the necessary equipment for you. If you prefer to travel on your own, we will gladly give you some great tour advice and tips for cross-country skiing.
Enjoy the dreamlike winter landscapes on your outdoor adventures, and upon your return to the Kinderhotel Ramsi, the heated sauna will be waiting for you.
